5 perfect locations for a date on Valentine’s Day
While it’s true that who you are with is more important than where you are, if you’re working towards a special moment to remember forever, better that it’s in a uniquely beautiful setting that makes those memories something magical. That’s why today we’ve selected five perfect locations for your Valentine’s date – a date that can either be the same as any other, or become one of ‘the big moments’ in your relationship. Looking after the little things has always been the best recipe for love, so take note. Let’s begin!
A night on the Piazza. Florence is one of the most beautiful places in the world. This gorgeous city located in the heart of Tuscany has been the backdrop for novels, movies and love stories for hundreds of years. The beauty of its historic buildings, its sculptures and its streets is capable of melting even the coldest and most sceptical of hearts. Any corner of Florence could be a perfect place for a date: the Duomo and Santa Maria dei Fiore Cathedrals, the Campanile, the Ponte Vecchio on the river Arno or the stairs of the Basilica of Santa Croce. But if there is one perfect place for a special Valentine’s date, it’s the Piazza Santo Spirito. This small, cosy square surrounded by the terraces of bars and restaurants, has a charm and special atmosphere all of its own.
A date at the Museum. If you think that Miami’s beaches and nature reserves are the only options for a romantic date, then you don’t know the half of it. The beautiful contemporary art museum, the Perez Art Museum Miami, houses more than 1,800 modern and contemporary works of art in its exhibition halls. In addition to enjoying the art, you can also dine at its restaurant while enjoying stunning views of the Bay and the hanging gardens that give such personality to this renowned building designed by Herzog and de Meuron. The Museum also hosts a wide range of shows and events of all kinds, such as concerts and dance shows… The ideal place for an unforgettable date.
The sunset date. Enjoying the sunset in New York is an amazing experience, but doing it as a couple on Valentine’s Day will make it a memory for a lifetime. New York is packed with breath-taking places for a perfect date, such as the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, the Lincoln Center Fountain or you can even catch the Staten Island Ferry. But if you’re going for something more original, I suggest catching the sunset from Gantry Plaza State Park, located on the old docks of Long Island (Queens), across the East River with breathtaking views of Manhattan. It’s a quiet park where you can take a walk while enjoying the views and the company.
A picnic in the park. Vondelpark is considered one of the most romantic parks in Amsterdam and the Netherlands. Although it is extremely well-known, with hundreds of people a day passing through, its 47 hectares will definitely allow you to find an intimate corner where you can stroll, chat, enjoy the rose garden, ponds… or prepare a surprise picnic for your partner. The relaxed and multicultural atmosphere make this one of the most special parks in the world.
The power of theatre. Life, love, death and everything in between have always been a feature of good theatre and that’s why a night out at the theatre has always been a popular choice for Valentine’s Day. If you are lucky enough to be in Milan, you must not miss the Piccolo Theatre. Its older brother, the La Scala theatre, has always stolen its thunder a bit, but the interior Renaissance cloister of this “small” theatre is amazing. It also houses a small café bar for drinks before or after the show. Truly amazing.
